We first opened our doors for business on June 12, 2004 in Community 4, Tema, Ghana. We started as a small retail facility with three staff. Just like every fledgling business, we had our share of challenges. Like a seedling in a ruthless thicket, we struggled frustratingly to take off and even to find our feet in a market, monopolistically dominated, by two strong pharmacies in Tema then. We had limited funds to purchase products after setting up the place and suppliers were unwilling to risk giving us any credit line as a new company. We started with literally no pharmaceutical products. We only had a few analgesics and blood tonics from one particular manufacturer. These, coupled with other challenges in an unfriendly terrain, affected our ability to operate effectively and to attract any meaningful numbers of customers. All staff had to work 14-hour shifts since we could not recruit more staff. Despite our skeleton staff, we were open every day, 7am-10pm without letup. On many occasions, we contemplated closing down due to the frustrations of near-zero sales. However, with our vision for Top-Up pharmacy in mind, and our tenacity to succeed, we decided to rise above the challenges and stay afloat. 

Gradually, our customer base started increasing. Our emerging customers, not readily getting the medicines they needed from us, positively compelled us to ensure our clients had easy access both to our facility and the products that they needed. We challenged ourselves to get whatever our customers were looking for provided it was available on the market. That birthed our tagline, “Whatever you need…24/7”, a brand promise that we have diligently worked hard to keep. 

We were the first in Tema to open our business from 7am and close as late as 10pm, hitherto, most Pharmacies were opening at 8am and closing at 9pm. Our early opening hours catered to the needs of our busy corporate workers. We were also the first, to later start a 24-hour pharmacy service within our community.

From a small store in Tema Community 4, we have by dint of hard work and uncompromising attention to the needs of our customers, grown our business to 16 stores with three more due to open by the close of this year. We have added wholesale facilities to our line of business and our import business should be taking off in a massive way soon. Our nascent retail store at Tema Community 4 has since moved into our new ultra-modern building situated next to the old store. Our focus is to meet all the needs of clients, to delight them with an ambient refreshing environment and to excite them with a professional service that only our team can offer.
